Our Philosophy
The business philosophy of Rae, McLean & Associates Ltd. has been moulded upon industry experience gained by its principal partners since the mid 1960's. The basis of our philosophy is:
- To provide competent professional design services considering both initial and operating costs to achieve maximum benefits.
- To examine and advise the feasibility of various systems and their applications to specific projects.
- To encourage innovation in design and application wherever applicable to increase energy efficiency and to be leaders in sustainable building design.
- To take a prominent and active role in the integration of a project with the owner, owner's representative, architects, interior designers and other consultants; stressing the effects on mechanical and electrical systems of such items as type and area of glazing, shading devices, solar, impact of various lighting systems, thermal insulation, site orientation, and special considerations such as computer facilities and laboratories.
- To produce drawings and specifications of the highest quality and clarity in order to achieve close control on contract costs.
Our Process
Our process is to involve two Principals in all projects to ensure that decisions are subject to a second look. With a combined 80 years of experience in mechanical and electrical building design, our Principals firm grasp of building systems and construction processes ensure we provide drawings of not only the utmost clarity and quality, but also easily understood by contractors. This results in less guesswork on the contractor’s part and therefore better pricing for our client and few “on-site” problems arising during construction.
